Gloucester Arts & Crafts Group

We are a registered (No. l069039) educational charity based in and around Gloucester. We organise a number of events for our members, and the general public, throughout the year. The main event is our annual Summer School held at a local secondary school on the south side of Gloucester. The Summer School generally lasts for five days (Monday to Friday) but we also offer a number of 2, 3 and 5-day courses during the week. On average we are able to offer 25 arts and crafts courses. The maximum number of students per class is usually 10 students giving ample time for attention from the tutor. Please note that our courses are only available to people of 18 yrs and over.

All our Summer School courses are open to all members of the public.

The membership fee for 2011 will be £7.50 (payable in January please)

    Benefits include:

  • First opportunity to book for our One-Day Workshops
  • AGM that includes a guest speaker and an enjoyable lunch at nominal cost
  • May and December Newsletters
  • Prior opportunity (two weeks) to book your place at the Summer School

Next year. 2012, will be our 32nd! We have been successful for many years due to a number of factors, not least being the dedication shown by a small number of determined people over many years.

Being a Charity we aim to be non-profit making and try to ‘break even' each year or to make a small surplus so that we can plough some money back for things such as replacing worn-out or obsolete equipment or even purchasing new to satisfy health and safety regulations.

Some of our courses have run tor many years and they continue to remain popular. But we also try to offer new and different courses each year in response to requests that we receive through our 'suggestion box' that is always accessible by the mainentrance at the Summer School.

We are very Health and Safety aware. Each tutor has to produce ‘risk assessments' for any activity that might be considered as hazardous to students. We have a full H&S policy document that meets our requirements and that of the School. We also have Public Liability Insurance. All electrical equipment used on the courses is PAT tested.
